C&rsquo;est ce que viennent de mettre en \u00e9vidence des chercheurs du Laboratoire Microorganismes : G\u00e9nome et Environnement (LMGE, CNRS\/Universit\u00e9 Blaise Pascal Clermont-Ferrand 2) et du Laboratoire de Toxicologie Environnementale (LTE, INRA Avignon). Ces r\u00e9sultats sont publi\u00e9s dans la revue PLoS ONE.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"> En France, les abeilles domestiques de l&rsquo;esp\u00e8ce Apis mellifera repr\u00e9sentent l&rsquo;outil de travail d&rsquo;environ 70 000 apiculteurs professionnels et amateurs. Leur influence directe sur la qualit\u00e9 et la quantit\u00e9 des r\u00e9coltes, ainsi que sur le maintien de la biodiversit\u00e9 florale, est aujourd&rsquo;hui largement reconnue et souligne le r\u00f4le pr\u00e9pond\u00e9rant des abeilles, domestiques et sauvages, dans le fonctionnement des \u00e9cosyst\u00e8mes.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Cependant, depuis plus de 15 ans, les colonies d&rsquo;abeilles sont en  proie \u00e0 un mal \u00e9trange et peu compris des apiculteurs et des  scientifiques, avec chaque ann\u00e9e, des milliers de colonies qui  disparaissent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"> Pour expliquer ce ph\u00e9nom\u00e8ne, observ\u00e9 principalement par  les apiculteurs europ\u00e9ens et am\u00e9ricains, de nombreuses pistes sont  avanc\u00e9es : l&rsquo;appauvrissement de la diversit\u00e9 et de la qualit\u00e9 des  ressources alimentaires (en lien avec les changements climatiques),  l&rsquo;intensification des monocultures et la modification des paysages,  l&rsquo;action d&rsquo;agents pathog\u00e8nes responsables de maladies comme la varroase  (2), les loques (3) et la nos\u00e9mose, le stress chimique provoqu\u00e9 par  l&rsquo;exposition des abeilles aux produits phytosanitaires et v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires  ou encore certains pr\u00e9dateurs tels que le frelon asiatique. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Bien que de  nombreuses donn\u00e9es soient disponibles sur l&rsquo;influence des stress  nutritionnel, parasitaire et chimique sur la sant\u00e9 des abeilles, aucun  d&rsquo;entre eux n&rsquo;a pu \u00eatre isol\u00e9 comme unique responsable du d\u00e9clin des  populations d&rsquo;abeilles. Aujourd&rsquo;hui, les sp\u00e9cialistes du domaine  s&rsquo;accordent pour orienter les recherches sur les effets combin\u00e9s de  plusieurs de ces facteurs.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">C&rsquo;est dans ce contexte que des \u00e9quipes de recherche du CNRS, de  l&rsquo;INRA et de l&rsquo;Universit\u00e9 Blaise Pascal ont associ\u00e9 leurs comp\u00e9tences  respectives en parasitologie et en toxicologie pour \u00e9valuer l&rsquo;influence  des interactions pathog\u00e8ne-toxique sur la sant\u00e9 des abeilles. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">En  laboratoire, les chercheurs ont expos\u00e9 de fa\u00e7on chronique des abeilles  naissantes saines et d&rsquo;autres contamin\u00e9es par Nosema ceranae \u00e0 de  faibles doses d&rsquo;insecticides. R\u00e9sultat : les abeilles infect\u00e9es par  Nosema ceranae puis expos\u00e9es de fa\u00e7on chronique aux insecticides  succombent, m\u00eame \u00e0 des doses se situant en dessous du seuil entrainant  la mort, ce qui n&rsquo;est pas le cas de leurs cong\u00e9n\u00e8res non infect\u00e9es.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"> Cet  effet combin\u00e9 sur la mortalit\u00e9 des abeilles appara\u00eet pour une exposition  quotidienne \u00e0 des doses pourtant tr\u00e8s faibles (plus de 100 fois  inf\u00e9rieures \u00e0 la DL50 (4) de chaque insecticide). La synergie observ\u00e9e  ne d\u00e9pend pas de la famille d&rsquo;insecticides puisque les deux mol\u00e9cules  \u00e9tudi\u00e9es, le fipronil et le thiaclopride (5), appartiennent \u00e0 des  familles diff\u00e9rentes. Le mode d&rsquo;action responsable de cette synergie n&rsquo;a  cependant pas \u00e9t\u00e9 encore identifi\u00e9.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Cette \u00e9tude montre donc que l&rsquo;interaction entre nos\u00e9mose et  insecticides constitue un risque significatif suppl\u00e9mentaire pour les  populations d&rsquo;abeilles et pourrait expliquer certains cas de  surmortalit\u00e9. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Ce travail indique \u00e9galement que des doses d&rsquo;insecticides  consid\u00e9r\u00e9es comme ne pouvant entrainer la mort expriment pourtant un  potentiel toxique l\u00e9tal pour des organismes parasit\u00e9s et donc  fragilis\u00e9s. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\">Par cons\u00e9quent ces r\u00e9sultats montrent la n\u00e9cessit\u00e9  d&rsquo;am\u00e9liorer la gestion et la protection du cheptel apicole face au  danger que repr\u00e9sentent les pollutions environnementales et les  pathog\u00e8nes (seuls ou en combinaison) sur la sant\u00e9 de l&rsquo;abeille. L&rsquo;\u00e9quipe  \u00ab Interactions H\u00f4tes-Parasites \u00bb du Laboratoire Microorganismes :  G\u00e9nome et Environnement (LMGE, CNRS\/Universit\u00e9 Blaise Pascal  Clermont-Ferrand 2) travaille justement \u00e0 rechercher de nouveaux moyens  de lutte contre cet agent pathog\u00e8ne.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000080;\"><a
